ROUND ROCK, Texas — The Texas Concordia women's soccer team shut out Nelson University, 2-0. Freshmen Emma Payne and Avery Walker both scored and senior goalkeeper Laura Tresco recorded her first clean sheet of the season Tuesday inside the Round Rock Multi-Purpose Complex.
The Tornadoes controlled the tempo, outshooting the Lady Lions 18-9 (10-2 shots). Concordia started on the offensive right away, earning a corner kick one minute into the game. Concordia then scored when Payne fired a shot inside the box that bounced off a defender and into the net.
CTX had seven more shots on goal but went into the half trailing 1-0.Late in the 79th minute, Erin Faulkner passed to Walker in the middle of the field, who smashed the ball into the center-left of the goal to secure the win for CTX.
Concordia Texas will next travel to Belton, Texas for a rematch against UMHB on Thursday, September 26th at 7pm.
