Billy Napier's University of Florida football team defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs 45-28 in Starkville last weekend, putting them back in a tie for 2024. The Gators are now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the Southeastern Conference, with a week off in Week 5 and a game scheduled against an in-state rival the following weekend.
The Orange and Blue have since improved in most rankings and ratings, including CBS Sports' weekly re-rankings, which saw Florida rise three spots to No. 78 out of 134 FBS teams. This places the Gators between the No. 77 San Jose State Trojans and the No. 79 South Florida Bulls.
