The New Zealand Breakers have just landed a major signing with former NBA big man Tacko Fall joining the team.
Fall, who is tied for second-tallest player in NBA history at 7ft 6ins, will accompany the Breakers on their three-game tour of the United States during the American League preseason.
However, despite being a monster contract for the team, it is currently only a short-term deal, with ESPN reporting that Fall's contract will not extend beyond the team's stay in the United States.
New Zealand Breakers sign Tacko Fall for NBA tour
Former NBA big man and cult hero Fall will join the Breakers when they tour America to take on a range of NBA teams.
Fall most recently played for Puerto Rican team Pilatas de Quebradillas but spent four years in the NBA and G League from 2019-2022 with the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers.
He'll likely use the game against the Breakers as an audition for an NBA return after spending time in Puerto Rico and China, but his play will add some excitement to an already promising roster.
Over the two-week period, New Zealand-based NBL teams will face off against the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers and Oklahoma City Thunder, continuing the NBLxNBA matchup that has become a staple of both seasons in recent years.
The Breakers will play in Week 2 but will miss Weeks 3 and 4 before returning in Week 5 in NBL action following their matchup against the NBA.

At 7-foot-6, Tal's imposing frame makes him tied with Yao Ming and Shawn Bradley as the second-tallest players in NBA history, behind only Manute Bol and Gheorghe Muresan, both of whom are 7-foot-7.
He is the tallest player ever signed by an NBL team, breaking the previous record of 7ft 5ins held by former Brisbane Bullets (2021-22) big man Chuan-Hsin Liu.
Before Liu, Sam Harris, who played for the Singapore Slingers, Perth Wildcats and Adelaide 36ers from 2008 to 2011, was the league's tallest player at 7ft 3ins.
