The New York Giants (2-6) host the Washington Commanders (6-2) this Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Of course, that would provide those of us here at the Giants Wire with an opportunity to steal from the Commander's roster for the second time this season in search of an upgrade in Big Blue's depth and personnel.
Back in Week 2, he was ruled out as an option for this exercise because he “stole” quarterback Jaden Daniels.
For years, wide receiver Terry McLaurin was an easy steal, but that's no longer a necessary position. Other options include offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas, center Tyler Biadasz and safety Jeremy Chinn.
Ultimately, he intends to move linebacker Bobby Wagner away from the Commanders, strengthening the Giants' team while weakening the Giants' defense.
The Giants don't necessarily “need” Wagner, thanks to the combination of Bobby Okereke and Micah McFadden, but based on his performance alone in 2024, he's probably an upgrade over either of these players. will be done.
Wagner has the sixth-best overall grade (83.7) among middle linebackers this season and is also an excellent run defender. He's also a highly accomplished pass rusher, and while he's below average in coverage, he can't be considered a downgrade compared to McFadden in that regard.
Having Wagner and Okereke lined up behind nose tackle Dexter Lawrence would be a dream come true for defensive coordinator Shane Bowen.
What do you think, Giants fans? Would they select Bobby Wagner or acquire a completely different player from the Washington Commanders?
