ASHEVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 23, 2024) – After a nine-day break, the ETSU men's soccer team will return to the pitch on Tuesday night as the Buccaneers continue their road trip at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, with kickoff at 6 p.m. at Greenwood Soccer Field.

About the Bucks ETSU, which has been sidelined since a Sept. 15 game against South Carolina, is 1-4-2 this season. ETSU has been held scoreless in its last five halves, with Enrique Cruz and Gabriel Ramos leading the Bucks to a first-half goal in a Sept. 7 game against UNC-Wilmington. Cruz and Ramos each lead the Blue & Gold with five points this season. Cruz has a team-best two goals and one assist, while Ramos has three assists in addition to a goal. The Bucks are looking for their first road win since Oct. 21, when ETSU won 2-0 at Furman. The Bucks are led by first-year head coach Allen Vital… Vital comes to Johnson City with 27 years of head coaching experience, having spent 14 years at Carson-Newman and the past 13 seasons at his alma mater, Tusculum. ETSU won the Southern Conference Championship. The Bucks finished the 2023 season with a 9-5-3 record and a 4-0-1 league record, winning the season title a year ago. The Bucks return nine players who logged time on the field last season, including preseason All-SoCon selection Gabriel Ramos. A preseason All-SoCon selection, Ramos started all 17 games last season, recording six goals, five assists and 17 points… Ramos led the team in goals and points and was tied for the team lead in assists. About UNC Asheville UNC Asheville is 4-2-1 this season. The Bulldogs opened Big South Conference play last Friday with a 2-1 loss to defending champion High Point. UNCA is 3-0 this season with wins over Stetson, VMI and Wofford at Greenwood Field. The Bulldogs are led by Seth Hammond, who scored a team-best three goals and is tied for the lead with Lewis Beckett with six points. UNCA has outscored its opponents, 11-5 on the season, with goaltender Charlie Farrar posting a 0.844 save percentage…Farrar has a total of 27 saves and allowed five goals in seven games. SERIES HISTORY ETSU leads the series with a 3-2 record. The Bucks lost to the Bulldogs 2-0 in Johnson City last season. ETSU is 1-1 in Asheville with the lone win coming in 2022 when the Bucks won 3-2. WHAT'S NEXT?
ETSU will finish off its four-game road trip next Tuesday with a game at Wake Forest University at 7 p.m.
