CAIRO, Sept 21 (Kuna): Al-Tomoh Kuwait Sports Club won one gold medal and one silver medal in the over-21 table tennis competition at the 5th International Disabled Championships held in Cairo.
In a statement to KUNA, Al Tomoh's director Hoda Al Khalidi offered his heartfelt congratulations to the winning players and to the administrative and technical teams for their unwavering support. Al Khalidi noted that Hassan Al Mutawa reached the final after beating a player from Port Fouad Al Busaidi Club with a score of 2-0. Similarly, Mohsen Al Masmoum also reached the final after beating a player from Zamalek Club with the same score. The two Kuwaiti players will face each other in the final.
Al Khalidi further highlighted that Hassan Al Mutawa, Mohsen Al Mashum and Mohammed Al Otaibi will compete in athletics next Saturday, focusing on the 100m and 200m races, and expressed confidence in their ability to continue their success and add to Kuwait's medal tally.
The fifth International Paralympic Championships kicked off in Cairo's Al Shorouk last Thursday, with 244 athletes from 20 clubs, including Kuwait's Al Tomoh Club, taking part in the table tennis and athletics events. The delegation was led by the club's deputy secretary-general Fahad Al Shari, and included the athletes as well as their coach Bilal Al Hamami.
